Hunter, the son of US President Joe Biden, is facing additional criminal allegations from the Department of Justice. Hunter is said to have failed to pay $US1.4 million ($A2.1 million) in taxes while spending millions of dollars on an opulent lifestyle.

An indictment issued in US District Court in Central California on Thursday lists Hunter Biden, 53, as having been charged with three felonies and six misdemeanors related to tax offenses.
If found guilty, he may serve up to 17 years in prison.
Hunter Biden is still the subject of an investigation, according to the Justice Department.
“The Defendant engaged in a four-year scheme to not pay at least $US1.4 million ($A2.1 million) in self-assessed federal taxes he owed for tax years 2016 through 2019,” according to the indictment.
More than $US70,000 ($A105,974) was spent on drug rehabilitation. It was stated that he had spent enormous sums of money “on drugs, escorts and girlfriends, luxury hotels and rental properties, exotic cars, clothing, and other items of a personal nature.”
Abbe Lowell, the attorney for Hunter Biden, stated in a statement that his client has paid all of his taxes.
