Fetterman rips claims Israel committed war crimes, calls for Hamas’ destruction

In a recent interview, Sen. John Fetterman, a Democrat from Pennsylvania, criticized accusations that Israel had committed war crimes by hitting Hamas in retaliation for the terror attack that occurred there on October 7.

Fetterman claimed he appreciates the lives of innocent Palestinian children just as much as he does innocent Israeli children, telling CNN anchor Abby Phillip on Monday night that Israel cannot exist peacefully unless Hamas is annihilated. The left wing of the party has criticized the Democrat for his unwavering backing of Israel in the media and on public appearances.

Phillip brought up claims that, in the wake of the terrorist incident on October 7, Israel had committed war crimes in Gaza.

“Do you believe that anything that Israel has done in these six weeks of fighting has amounted to a war crime?” she inquired.

Naturally, no. Naturally not,” Fetterman remarked. “Let’s not overlook what Hamas initiated, it seems. After violating the initial cease-fire, they launched an assault on Israel, killing over 1,200 defenseless people—men, women, children, infants—and subjecting it to unimaginable acts of brutality.”

Thus, we must keep in mind that this is a clear and unambiguous attack aimed at destroying Israel, which is what initiated the entire situation.”

“However, Senator, are you satisfied with the quantity of Palestinian casualties? 15 or 16 000 civilians, 7,000 children dead. Do you think Israel is going enough to prevent harm to civilians? Phillip enquired.

Too many deaths at one time. It is sorrowful,” Fetterman remarked. “I do not regard the life of a Palestinian child as being any more or less valuable than that of my own child. It’s terrible and painful.”
